Downtown looking good
I was strolling around downtown the other night and I must say the place is looking pretty nice. Many of the shops had some kind of holiday decoration and there were people on the streets. Cafe Classics was pretty busy, as usual. I even peeked into the new Sterling Hotel for a little while.
Some of the changes and development really seems to show that 2008 might even be a better year for the downtown area even with hard times in Michigan.
There are a few key vacant storefronts that could use filling, but otherwise it seems like the downtown is a little more lively.
So what's the DDA doing about trying to recruit some businesses to fill the vacancies? Anyone have a clue?

Observer,
I heard a story from someone who talked to an ex local shop owner downtown. I don't remember the name of the shop, but apparently the owner approached the Main Street Manager and asked how the future prospects of getting more retail businesses downtown looked. Apparently this business owner was realizing that the rent outside of the downtown are would be cheaper for them, but saw value in staying downtown if a good core of businesses surrounded them.
The Main street manager told this business owner that no plans were in the works for recruiting new retail shops, and the future was bleak. The business owner promptly moved out of the downtown area to get lower rent.
With a Main Street Manager like that why do we need a DDA, Chairman Rick Floraday, or a Main Street Manager?
I say lets quit wasting tax payer’s dollars and let the volunteer DMBN run the Main street office. Better yet, how about disbanding the DDA? I think the city could use those captured tax dollars in the General Fund.

The observer must realize that the MB&T board is not fools. The downfall of the trio of jerks Linda, Ricky, and John will occur with a quick stroke after the first of the year. The message of the voters is a clear mandate for the rats to get off the ship.
Dear Observer,
Your efforts are appreciated by all readers. However there is a big world out there and if you want to be of service to the city you could follow David Alkire Smith’s example and start a real website. See www.historicmonroe.org which serves people needing Monroe information and wishing to donate to the museaum.
Go to Google and type in:
Ben Tallerico
Linda Compora
John Iacoangeli
David Alkire Smith
Rick Floraday
That's right Observer - follow the "excellent" example of low-class David Alkire Smith and start a website just like his that is full of inaccuracies and does nothing but damage Monroe. Any truth that the Historical Society is getting legal advice about sueing the jackass? Seems Smith and his bloated up son think they're "experts" at everything. I hear that everytime Smith gets up to pontificate at council meetings he farts when he gets up, class man real class! Also hear the smell emanating from him is sickening.
His distorted rantings here would be enough to drive people away except he doesn't have the balls to sign his name although we all know he's just about the only one that posts - under many names- and then answers his own posts, then turns around and spams the blog and then complains about it- real mentally stable wouldn't ya say?
Now I can't wait for the blockbuster libel suit that is sure to be filed against the ass because he just can't help himself from libeling certain people-seems the smelly, toxic man has a problem with obsessive behavior- I can't wait to hear the pig bleat and whine that people "crapped" on him and "lied" in court- it should be big ,libel is a whole lot different than his poor PPO that he's still whining about and involves a whole lot more $$ too- hopefully those that he libels will stand for it no more and drag the scumbag into court and give him what he deserves! Maybe someone will finally have enough of his shit and bring him to his knees publicly! In reading this blog one hopes that there could be some discussion of issues that the Observer tosses out there, but with the whacko on here it always comes back to his whining about certain people and his unfortunate luck because he harassed a public official and got dragged into court.
Hey speaking about getting what someone deserves..how about Billy Burkett getting rammed but good by his Godfather Al during the election? Here there's trouble in paradise there, oh well, Bill can always go to the "magical water" to get over it! Sure did take Billy along time to realize that Al will ram any one. Seems Billy is no exception! The story about the snake on the sidewalk being picked up and cared for comes to mind.. once a snake always a snake!
Getting back to Monroe's know it all pseudo "engineer" who got his "engineering" degree at MCCC but is really just a fired tool and die maker from Fords- gotta hand it to the Observer- he knows how to push the old man's buttons, keep up the good work Observer and enjoy a well deserved laugh!
As someone who reads this blog and anticipates some intelligent discussion of issues I lament that there will be none as long as this pig continues to post his delusions here, but it sure is a hoot to see how easily he can be sucked in - Observer surely deserves the Pulitzer of Blogs for his ability to manipulate this pig! Observer has my vote!
