Fascinating development

Looks like everybody got really fired up over the "discussion" involving a living wage ordinance at county.

Wonder where this one's going to go? Wonder if the city's money problems will lead the new council to re-examine its quirky wage ordinances?

Quirky or not, this ordinance has not affected the City in a negative way, and it really won't affect the County. Plus, it will give needed income to raise a family above the poverty level. Get off the high and mighty horse you are on and cut the little guy some slack.

Cut me some slack. I didn't say I was against it and it should be rescinded. I asked a question. I used the term quirky because if you're at all familiar with it, you know it's kind of strange and spotty. If you're not familiar with it, do some homework before you spout off. The question still stands: Like the ordinance or not, does anyone think the city might consider taking another look at it, given the money problems the city is having?

I don't think the City's financial woes can be fixed by recinding the ordinance.
I also don't believe that having this ordinance caused the City any problems, but we may never know if a company didn't submit a lower bid since they didn't pay the living wage. I think it runs away possible lower bidders, thus costing taxpayers more money.
Will any of the Council or the Mayor try to recind? Doubt it. It's too political of a move for a new council, although there is always Ed or Brian.

Observer,

You really seem to have lost your mind since you lost your election bid.

It must be a pretty happy little neighborhood right now.

Are you and Tonya getting along? Do you wonder what could have been if she hadn't run as the spoiler?

Personally I think Honest Ed would have beat either of you one on one, but who knows.

When are you going to post your vacation pictures? I hope you don't have any of Compora in a two-piece swimming suit. Seeing her in one of those could make me loose my breakfast. Please show some editorial restraint when you pick which ones to post.

I hope you are working on finding a new hobby so you have something to do once you are booted from the DDA. I have to believe the new fiscally conservative mayor didn't see the humor in your downtown hoedown funded with City of Monroe tax dollars.

Cappy’s party sponsored with private money was pretty cheap compared to that, don’t you think? Maybe Iaco will throw a going away party for you once the DDA disbands.

By the way Rick – is it true the Mainstreet Manager really told a business to leave town because nothing good was going to happen anytime soon? Isn’t it hard to justify having a jerk like you in charge with results like this and the hoedown?
