Interesting election outcome
Altho I predicted the city's election results with uncanny precision, the vote totals tell the real story.
Choosing Worrell for mayor was a vote for a steady Eddy in hard times. Burkett, who tried to portray himmself as a Cappuccilli clone almost didn't beat McIntyre. He must be feeling bad. Cappy might be feeling worse because no one would portray him as a longtime Worrell ally.
Iacoangeli's loss was noteworthy because he had all the endorsements you're supposed to have to swing an election. It just didn't swing and the faction smell probably didn't do him any more good than it did Burkett. It would have been a far more interesting race if three of the candidates hadn't cluttered it up.
Clark's Pct. 1 win was by a wider margin than I thought. I guess Edison's clout in town is slipping.
Paisley's win in Pct. 2 looks like a stunner at first glance. But if you look closer, he got the fewest votes of any of the winners. That's not a good sign for an incumbent and if he wasn't in a three-way race, he easily could have been a loser.
McGhee in 3 was a stunner. He was unopposed, but he got the most votes of anybody. This should be an interesting seat to watch.
Molenda in 4 also benefitted from the fed-up with factions movement. He'll probably bring a lot to the board.
Conner in 5 was a given. She'll be great if she stays out of earshot of bad influences.
Beneteau did really well in gathering votes in 6 considering he's an unopposed incumbent.
This has the makings of a pretty powerful lineup. I think I see the ready-made makings of a Worrell majority -- Clark, Molenda, McGhee and maybe Beneteau for starters.

AGAIN; I AM ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE A MEN STAFF WRITER GIVEN THIS FAR FETCHED ASSERTION. YOU MUST HAVE WRITTEN THIS AFTER STAGGERING OUT OF BEEKS OR STEVES AFTER PUTTING YOUR COLUMN TO BED.
IACO WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIS BUTT KICKED THREE TIMES AS BAD AS HE DID IF ONLY HIM AND WORRELL WERE IN THE RACE!
I'D SKIP THE PRODICTIONS IF I WERE YOU. YOU REALLY DO SUCK AT IT.
Dear Observer,
Again you do tend to create the impression that you are an agent provocateur for The Monroe Evening News. Detroit Edison only pays as much tax as we can extract. The Monroe Evening News would like to think that they run the town and date to tell people how to vote.
The 3rd wrong side of the tracks went for IACO and Compora-—they both went pandering after their votes. I do hope race relations improve based on equality and decency rather than wining and whimpering over JOBS.
I believe that the voters showed that it is time for a Mayor who is not Cappuccilli or Iacoangeli. I personally was getting tired of both of them. Maybe now the different "sides" will grow together to work on the same goals, fiscal responsibility, infrastructure improvements, and correct sized employee base.
I believe also that the Iacoalition was completely destroyed. Did having Compora on the team hurt Iaco? I would think yes. It probably hurt Floraday the worst, since his loss to Paisley was so close.
One thing stands out in the demographics of the third ward or precinct. Willie Hall, having recently revived the NAACP and allied himself with IACO and Compora has proven that race can get out some vote. More importantly, it has proven that racial polarization can work to the determent of racial equality.
Seriously, one must wonder if this blog is just a marketing study by The Monroe Evening News to check the gullibility of the citizens that make up much of their readership base. The editors hinted that Worrall might have a little experience but the planning experience is what counted and IACO had it. This premise is pure foolishness and not worthy of making a call on who ought to be mayor.
Now that the election is over, the Observer should remove the moderation of this blog. This blog seems to have lost much of its good conversation, and has been replaced by one liners since there is no back and forth conversation.
Give it some thought, please.
Observer- LOSER! You have the gull to go back a re-write your post and then make it look like you were right? Give me a break! Upset your buddy ICO lost? Trying to save face? Want to be credible? Have the balls to stand behind what you say/write. In your world it is all gone with the touch of the mouse. Aww MAN, you lost credibility BIG TIME DUDE! LOSER!
The last anonymous post has me rolling on the floor. It really made my day.
I lost credibility? I'm trying to save face?
You're hilarious.
Stand behind what I say and write? You're joking right?
Seriously, I'm laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes. Maybe it's because my buddy Ico lost, huh?
Too funny.
Really, it's this kind of stuff that makes doing this blog gratifying.
Oh, help, I think I split a gut...
Where is anonymous getting his info or is this just your assumption. You assume Mr. Wilie Hall restarted the NAACP! He was quoted in the paper as wanting to start it up. the NAACP has been inactive under his leadership! I don't think that having him on your team gave great asset to IACO administration. I found this blog to be constantly inaccurate. You should put in my opinion, not that it matters!
All around who could not be happy. I still have my reservations about Mr. McGhee but, so be it. I must also admit that Jeremy "I am the smartest kid in the room and a U of M Alumni" worries me, but, that's only two - could have been much worse.
Good luck to the new council, they will need it.
