Hey, I didn't bring it up

But a gentle reader of this blog did.
In a comment that was totally unrelated to the previous post, one of our faithful anonymous commenters said this:

"Hey Observer,
Looks like the verdict is in on Councilman Paisley. Ready to eat crow? No violation of the ethics ordinance. Guess you were wrong."

For the record, I never declared the ethics committee would find him in violation, never said that, never predicted it. The closest I came to saying that was that he was probably in violation of the city's lame ethics guidelines. Of course, even that wouldn't mean he would be FOUND IN VIOLATION of the guidelines.

Here was my bottom line on it:
"Just to clarify, if the ethics committee evaporated tomorrow, if Ed resigned from council tomorrow, if the Pope came into town and absolved him of all the sins in his life, he still would have a problem and the chances are it would continue to grow. I know of some of his clients who have bailed in the past and there are some who as I write this are thinking of bailing now. That kind of problem is far more serious than anything an ethics committee might come up with."

That assessment still stands, and the verdict is still out on that one.

Observer,

You continue to be a flaming moron. I hope you have not contaminated this planet by reproducing and spreading your defective genes.

The only ethics violation that has occurred on this council is Council Moron Compora accusing every one of ethics violations and other larcenies with no evidence.

Would you like to go through the list?

1. Open Meetings act violation at half the council.
2. The Mayor sprayed a skunk like odor on my car.
3. Brian Beneteau stole the purple flowers (he left the pink ones?) from my mother’s grave.
4. Ed Paisley violated the ethics policy.

This is just the highlights. There are numerous others - new ones are happening everyday. These are facts. This isn’t a coward spreading lies or half-truths on a blog. You can go down and get a copy of the police reports on most of this.

As for your accusations that Ed is gaining / loosing clients – even if its true, doesn’t this happen everyday? People come to and leave businesses everyday for many reasons. Frankly I don’t know what that has to do with Ed’s job on council. It has nothing to do with ethics – unless you want to make some more accusations.

As for the ethics policy – why do you say it is lame? I suppose you prefer the last administrations version that was more about expense reports and cars than it was about ethics. If that ordinance was so important, why was it the last thing done before they went out the door? I think that sham was a little unethical.

So - be careful how you continue to slander people on this blog. You are spreading hurtful and harmful propaganda. Try to at least stay fact based. Lets debate issues on their merits - not libel others.

It takes a real chickenshit to make accusations behind the name "Observer." Perhaps you should change your moniker to "Fabricator."

Observer.

Ed doesn't need the Pope to come to Monroe. He has Jesus Christ as his personal savior to wash away his sins, and the ethics committee said he didn't do anything wrong to begin with.

Peace!

Observer,
You were simply the jackass who said "Resign, Ed. Resign now." Who are you to offer that advice? Guess you were just basing that on "facts" that you read somewhere?
I'm kinda glad he didn't resign, cause instead of backing down when faced with the ethics board, he just showed up Councilperson Compora and another of her false accusations against a colleague. Wonder how her court date will go with David Smith. Probably the same way as all of her other false accusations. When will this dumb bitch wake up.

Observer,

Please tell me how you learned your ability to read others minds.

This would be a useful skill indeed.

By "Dumb Bitch" I assume you are talking about the distinguished Councilwoman Compora?

Can someone tell me what she does for a living? Is her sole purpose in life to crusade against industry and jobs in Monroe and accuse others of wrongdoing, or does she have an actual job and career?

I get the feeling she is just another leech on society - and somehow I am helping to pay for her clueless way through life.

Of course - I'm sure its not her fault she doesn't have a job. I'm sure its our fault for talking about her on the internet, or she is somehow being discriminated or harrassed out of a job.

I guess she could hang out a shingle like Ed did. What salable skills does she have? Perhaps I should volunteer to help her with her resume or business plan.

I wish she would get off my planet, or become a useful citizen.

Observer - why are you so willing to take shots at Ed Paisley, but never talk about Linda? Are you so baised you can't see the obvious? I guess that makes you a stupid bitch or bastard too.

Alas no one is perfect. We all are sinful and come short of the glory of God. Considering Floraday was the alternative to Paisley, we are served by an honest decent man on council rather than otherwise. The Floraday couple expected too much from John Iacoangeli and the present mayor. Spewing hate has no place in city politics. I do hope that David Smith prevails over Compora who, like the Floraday only knows how to stir up hate rather than solve problems. We all need to learn to get along together.

Floraday was just trying to get on council to help his buddy piss away more taxpayer money on parks.

Who the hell is Rick Floraday anyways? Was he one tied to former Mayor Iacoangeli? If so, then I agree with ANY bad comments about him, since John I. was a complete power hungry money spender who wanted to run Monroe like a dictatorship. If he had won this last election, the City would be broke. If he wins the next election, not only will he spend all of the City reserves, but he will also take out his revenge on any and everyone who he thinks crossed him. He is an EVIL person who we, as citizens, need to keep out of our City Government.

I agree with the last comment - but you need to expand it. We don't need Iaco, Sabo, Compora, or Guyor back. Florady should never make it onto council. They together were a destructive force.

I find most of the current council with the exception of Compora very good. I don't always agree with their conclusions - but you can discuss things with them and they will explain their logic to you.

For all the collusion and open meeting act violation accusations they actually think independently. You can't say that for the last rubber stamp council.

Now - if we can only get rid of Linda Compora.

Let’s face it! God does not joke around. Everyone is here for a reason. Perhaps Floraday and Compora are to serve as a bad example so better folks will choose to run for office. The wine whimper bitch sue routine is to teach sane folks not to elect persons on a whim because the jerk you elect can bite you in the pocketbook come tax time and drive industry away.

So the idea here is to defend Ed Paisley's violation of his own profession's rules by condemning everyone else around the city we don't like?
As for Compora, I don't know her, I have never spoken to her, I don't know what her problems are and I don't care. As far as I know, she's no more slanderous, publicly or privately, than some of the politicians and ordinary citizens I've encountered. Some people who comment on this blog have some sort of pathological issue with her, which is their choice. If she is sued for slander and loses or has violated laws, I wouldn't hesitate to comment on it. Floraday? What does he have to do with anything? Why don't we wait until he's on Council?
Sorry Paisley's such a hot button for some of you, and Compora, and Floraday.
But I didn't revive this subject, and to date, neither Compora or Floraday HAS BEEN FINED BY THE STATE OF MICHIGAN.

I rarely agree with the Observer, but if he's accusing some of the commenters with having a fixation about Paisley or Compora, I'd have to agree this time.
Even morons can be right once in a while, I guess.

I think this blog spends too much time discussing petty city politics. There's a lot more going on around here people should be concerned about. I mean, let's face it, the city of monroe is dying. None of this will matter in a little while. How about more stuff about the circus known as the county of monroe?

FYI, last I heard Compora was an administrator for a temporary staffing company. I don't know if that's still operative though. Historically, though, many people are not employed when they serve on the city council because of the time it takes. That might be way the quality has been lacking at times.

I agree to let Floraday alone until he gets on council. Of course that means to leave this jerk alone forever. What a clown. Between his chairmanship of the DDA and his wife's cheering for the city to spend 3 million on the furniture store for the library, they are just showing what puppets they are of Iacos. Maybe they should move back to the Carolinas and sue someone else, get some money of their own, and invest it in this city.
